The headquarters of the Bradford Landmark Society are located at 45 E. Corydon Street, in the old Herbig French Bakery. Founded in 1969 to preserve the history of Bradford, we currently have over 375 members. The Landmark Society has two main branches – the Herbig Bakery, which contains our extensive collection of photographs, genealogical materials, records, books, newspapers, city directories, and information relating to the early pioneers, businesses, schools, events, and historical happenings.
The second branch of the Landmark Society is the Crook Farm Homestead. Located on Seaward Avenue, the Crook Farm is a living museum, where examples of life long ago are on display. Included on site are a one room schoolhouse, a restored farmhouse, a barn, blacksmith and candle shops. Demonstrations of candle making, weaving, blacksmithing, and cooking are a wonderful way to learn, and have fun doing it.
The Bakery is open each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11AM – 2PM, and tours of the farm are given Tuesday through Friday, 1 – 4PM and by appointment.
